The Lazy Art of MP3 Blogging
Now I’m not going to say that I’m the most ambitious or motivated blogger on this here world wide web, my bloggings of only 3 or less times a week is quite pathetic if I can say so myself, but at least I’m honest about it. A lot of blogs out there seem to be championing that they are the first to break some sort of miraculus new artest or song to the rest of the world, when in actuallity there are about 4 honest to goodness bloggers out there that are really doing any sort of research involved with making blogging exciting from the start (I just used “blogging” and “exciting” in the same sentence, and right next to each other too!!).
What I’m trying to say is that there is no need for 50 blogs to post the same exact Spoon song from there upcoming album. I’m not sure who broke the story of the album leaking to the internet, whether it was fluxblog, music (for robots) or stereogum (in my opinion the three of the best music blogs available), doesn’t really matter. The point is that everyone that would read a music blog already knows Spoon has a new cd coming, they are for all intents and purposes indie music “superstars”. The thing that got me interested into MP3 blogs was the aspiration that people were doing some leg work, finding obscure small bands and giving them a forum, an equal and level platform for their music to be heard. That all seems to have been compromised now. I would like to compare the world of MP3 blogging to that of a High School Prom, and you are the front runner to be Prom Queen, and you just found out that the whore that has been eyeballing your boyfriend just showed up in the same dress as you. Now being male I’m not sure how I would feel about that, but I certainly would get pissed if someone posted the same stuff as, well you get the picture.
Anyway, in actual music news, I see that my favorite scandanavian band is back with a new EP. The Radio Dept. are prepping This Past Week, and it is absolutly delightful as their past releases have been. This EP is a major change for the RD, they seemed to have lost the Jesus and Mary Chain fuzzed out shoegazing bliss, and switched over to a more glistening synth type bliss, but all in all its the same wonderful pop music I have learned to love. O.k. enough of my rambling, here is an old song, and a new song, compare, contrast, adore….
